Scalar Quantities in Physics

Scalar quantities in physics have size only. They do not include direction. This makes them different from vector quantities.

Common scalar examples include mass, temperature, time, and energy. Each one can be described with a number and a unit. Because direction is not part of the value, scalars...

时间、质量与距离等物理量具有大小,但没有方向。这类物理量称为标量。

它们以数值后跟物理单位的形式表示。例如,一个苹果的质量是 100 g。 

标量与矢量不同,因为矢量既有大小又有方向。

例如,物体的质量取决于物质中所含物质的量,是一个标量。  相比之下,其重量是由于地球引力作用而产生的力,是一个矢量。

同样,距离是标量,而位移是矢量,表示物体位置的变化。

标量用斜体字母表示。

标量可以是负数,例如电子的电荷或温度计刻度的读数。

此处,负号表示实体在某个量表或性质上的点。

对于摄氏和华氏温度计,其刻度的零度位置不同,因此负温度在两种温标上的读数也不同。
