Sie sind vorteilhaft, wenn die Leistung schwer zu quantifizieren ist oder eine präzise Messung wirtschaftlich nicht machbar ist.
Closed-Loop-Systeme verfügen über eine oder mehrere Rückkopplungsverbindungen vom Ausgang zum Eingang für eine genauere Steuerung.
In einem geschlossenen Leerlaufregelsystem wird jede Differenz zwischen der gewünschten Leerlaufdrehzahl und der tatsächlichen Drehzahl erfasst und durch Anpassen des Drosselklappenwinkels korrigiert. Durch den Einsatz von Rückkopplung erholt sich das System nach einer Störung des Preset-Wertes schnell.
Sie sind jedoch komplexer zu bauen und in der Regel teurer und stromsparender, da mehr Komponenten verwendet werden.

Regelsysteme sind grundlegende Elemente der Automatisierung und des Ingenieurwesens. Sie werden grob in offene und geschlossene Systeme eingeteilt. Diese Klassifizierungen hängen vom Vorhandensein oder Fehlen von Rückkopplungsmechanismen ab und beeinflussen die Leistung, Komplexität und Anwendung des Systems erheblich.

Ein offenes Regelsystem arbeitet ohne Rückmeldung vom Ausgang. Es besteht aus zwei Hauptelementen: dem Controller und dem gesteuerten Prozess. Der Controller empfängt ein Eingangssignal und manipuliert den Prozess, um das gewünschte Ergebnis zu erzielen. Ein gängiges Beispiel für ein offenes System ist eine Waschmaschine, die in einem vordefinierten Zeitzyklus läuft. Sie passt ihren Betrieb nicht basierend auf der Sauberkeit der Kleidung an, was das Fehlen von Rückmeldung verdeutlicht. Offene Systeme sind in Szenarien vorteilhaft, in denen eine genaue Messung des Ausgangs entweder unpraktisch oder wirtschaftlich nicht machbar ist. Aufgrund ihrer unkomplizierten Bauweise sind sie in der Regel einfacher und kostengünstiger zu entwerfen und zu warten.

Im Gegensatz dazu enthalten Regelungssysteme mit geschlossenem Regelkreis oder Rückkopplung einen oder mehrere Rückkopplungsschleifen, die den Ausgang kontinuierlich überwachen und den Eingang entsprechend anpassen, um die gewünschte Leistung aufrechtzuerhalten. Diese Konfiguration verbessert die Genauigkeit und Reaktionsfähigkeit erheblich. Beispielsweise überwacht eine Leerlaufdrehzahlregelung mit geschlossenem Regelkreis, das in Automotoren verwendet wird, ständig die Leerlaufdrehzahl und vergleicht sie mit der gewünschten Drehzahl. Wenn eine Diskrepanz erkannt wird, passt das System den Drosselklappenwinkel an, um die Drehzahl zu korrigieren. Dieser Rückkopplungsmechanismus ermöglicht es dem System, sich schnell von Störungen zu erholen und den voreingestellten Wert beizubehalten, wodurch eine gleichbleibende Leistung gewährleistet wird.

Trotz ihrer höheren Genauigkeit und Fähigkeit, mit Störungen umzugehen, sind geschlossene Regelkreise von Natur aus komplexer. Control systems are key parts of automation and engineering. They are usually grouped into open-loop and closed-loop systems. The difference depends on whether the output is fed back to the controller.

An open-loop control system works without feedback from the output. It has two main parts: the controller and the controlled process. The controller receives an input signal and drives the process to reach the desired result. Because it does not check the output, the system does not correct itself automatically.

A washing machine that runs for a preset time is a common open-loop example. It keeps running on the set cycle and does not measure how clean the clothes are. Open-loop systems are useful when measuring the output is difficult or too expensive. They are also simpler and cheaper to design and maintain.

A closed-loop control system, also called a feedback control system, uses one or more feedback loops. These loops monitor the output and adjust the input to keep the system near the desired value. This feedback improves accuracy and responsiveness.

An automotive idle-speed control system is a clear example of a closed-loop system. It monitors engine idle speed and compares it with the target speed. If the speed changes, the system adjusts the throttle angle to correct it. This helps the system recover quickly from disturbances and keep a steady preset value.

Closed-loop systems are more complex than open-loop systems. They need extra parts for monitoring and feedback, which can increase design complexity, cost, and power use. The best choice depends on the application’s needs, including precision, whether the output can be measured, and cost.
