Dr. Gaofu Mei earned his PhD on "LMI1-like and KNOX1 genes coordinately regulate plant leaf development in dicotyledons" in Crop Science from Nanjing Agricultural University in 2019. From 2017 to 2019, Dr. Mei worked as a joint PhD student at Zhejiang University to map-based clone the photoperiod flowering genes in race cotton (Gossypium hirsutum). Afterward, he joined the Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, devoting himself to crop molecular genetics and precision breeding. At present, his research field is on sex determination and glandular trichome development in hemp (Cannabis sativa).
